Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame member, Sylvia Hatchell, is currently the University of North Carolina Women’s Basketball Head Coach. Her credentials within the basketball community are sterling, including her induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.
In 2017, Hatchell became the third women’s basketball coach in history to reach 1,000 career victories. Although Hatchell is a known basketball legend, she is a fighter off of the court as well.
After defeating leukemia in 2014, Hatchell became an adamant supporter of the fight against cancer, along with her partners at the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center. Her book “Fight! Fight!: Discover Your Inner Strength When Blindsided by Life,” was number 1 on Amazon within its genre.
Hatchell’s strength and spirit have made her an inspiration to many. “All I want to be is a guide for others as they face some unfathomable challenges in life,” she said.
